Explaining a Light Rail Safety Application

At the 2024 Smart City exhibition, Chunghwa Telecom presented an interactive model of its light rail OBU warning system. The system integrates an onboard unit (OBU) with a central management system (CMS) to address the effects of vehicles crossing tracks unlawfully.

Sensing, Data and Interactive Demonstration

Sensors installed at traffic signals send operational data to the OBU interface in the driver's cab to help identify safety risks. The model offers two tablet-controlled modes: System Explanation introduces the operating principles, while System Interaction moves the model train and simulates the OBU interface and warning sequence.

Training and Public Understanding

The combined explanation and demonstration provide an educational resource for government agencies and help general visitors understand light rail safety systems.
